work to live NOT live to work

Hello  Guys,

I hope you are doing well today!

Looking at the statuses  at my FB page.. most of them say "yay! its friday", TGIF.. long awaited weekend etc. Strange to see how our happiness is linked with weekends.

Well its true isn't it
Catch-up with a friend-- weekend
Do some cooking -- weekend
Play with the kids -- weekend
Pay the bills -- weekend
Write a blog post -- weekend

and the weekend goes in the blink of an eye.. Pffffffffffffff!

Ever imagined if the most important things to us would have been as lazy as us,

Sun-- I'll show up at weekend
Breeze -- I'll blow on the weekend
Moon -- I'll come next weekend
Mom -- I'll love you on the weekend
Dad -- I'll smile to you on the weekend

My only point is why do we wait for weekend to be happy?
Why can't we be happy everyday? now?

Its all a state of mind. We take our work, our daily routine so seriously that we often forget that being happy is the most important thing.

I know work earns money and money can buy some happiness, but my friends the Winner is a person who strikes out a balance between the two.

As they say, All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy!

We are so busy in our corporate culture these days that we forget important things like calling our parents daily, talking to our dear ones, watching our favorite movie or even going for a stroll.

If we stick to the 24 hour work schedule, we better be called machines, without any emotion of feeling or sense.
And as we get more and more engrossed in our work we forget good things around us which can make us happy everyday.

Was really sad to hear the news about the investment banker committing suicide due to overwork.

That is only one such example. Most of us must have witnessed the stress at work place. Its not good for your mind and body at all.

What do you think is more important in the long run? Your life or a high paying job?

We all know the answer
So ask yourself what you want to do.
Do not get so absorbed in work that you break all the ties with the world.

Change your priorities:
  1. Put your health first
  2. Put your family first
  3. Put your peace of mind first
  4. Put your interest/hobbies first
  5. Put your dreams first

Work should come as a means to achieve all of the above. If it is not, its probably not right.

Spend time with your loved ones, family, yourself before its too late and you realize no more.

Hence as a leaving note, work should be treated as work not life and life should be treated as life not work.

Cheerios! Stay Happy!
